Founded by Richard S. Granat, who has spent more than five decades building ways for people to resolve legal matters without a lawyer’s retainer, including the People’s Law Library of Maryland, now operated by the Maryland Judiciary.
In 1996, as Director of the On-Line Mediation Project at the University of Maryland School of Law’s Center for Law Practice Technology, he led one of the first studies of mediating divorce disputes over the Internet, presented at the National Center for Automated Information Research conference on online dispute resolution in Washington, D.C. This service is that idea, thirty years later, with the tools to do it properly. Read the 1996 working paper.
The directory is limited to Florida Supreme Court certified family mediators, verified against the Dispute Resolution Center’s records and rechecked annually.
Every document our staff complete is a Florida Supreme Court approved family law form, completed from the terms on the term sheet you and the parties sign.

We confirm your certification and good standing, then publish your profile. You choose whether to accept service cases, directory contacts, or both.

Couples pick you. On service cases, the comparison packet and both affidavits arrive by secure transfer before you meet them. Off service, they contact you the way they would from any directory.
Free. Not free for a year. Free.
We make our money from the couple’s document package. We will never make it from you.
Not now, not after a trial period, not at renewal. The listing agreement says so in a section that can’t be amended without your consent.
Take one case a year or forty. The cost to you is the same: nothing.
No money moves between JusticeXpress and any mediator, in either direction, for any reason.

How a service case works
From the couple’s first click to a filed uncontested divorce. Your part is steps 4 and 5, and neither one involves a login.

Each opens their own account on JusticeXpress and completes a structured questionnaire covering property, debts, timesharing, support, insurance, and taxes, plus a financial affidavit. Neither can see the other’s answers.

They contact you, agree to your fee, and pay you directly. Then each tells us which mediator they’ve engaged.
- 3JusticeXpress staffWe send you the comparison packet.
Every term marked Agreed, Gap, or Open, grouped by the sections of the marital settlement agreement and parenting plan, with both financial affidavits. Delivered by secure transfer, usually within one business day.
- 4YouYou mediate the gaps, on your own video platform.
The Agreed items are done. You spend the session on the Gap and Open items only, and decide when and how the spouses see the comparison. The child support worksheet is completed in your session, the way you do it now.

Our one-page-per-section template mirrors the comparison. For every open item you record the agreed value; both spouses sign; you email it to us. That’s the end of your involvement.

- Have no pending or past discipline before the Mediator Qualifications and Discipline Review Board
- Conduct divorce mediation virtually, by Zoom or a comparable video platform, so the parties never need to be in the same room or county
- Publish a fee on the listing: hourly, flat, or per-session, with what it includes
- Respond to inquiries within two business days, or the listing pauses until you log back in
- Reverify certification and availability once a year
Not eligible
- Mediators certified in other areas only (county, circuit civil, dependency, appellate) without family certification
- Mediators who work only in person
- Attorneys seeking clients for representation rather than mediation. Listings describe mediation services only.
- Listings without a published fee
Firms and mediation practices with more than one certified family mediator can list each mediator individually under the firm name.
Where the couples come from
Our affiliated site, JusticeXpressFlorida.com, provides self-help legal information and Florida Supreme Court approved forms to self-represented Floridians. A large share of its visitors are divorcing, and many are stuck on a short list of issues they can’t resolve at the kitchen table.
Every divorce page on that site sends those couples here: to the directory if they want to find a mediator, and to the service if they want their paperwork handled as part of the process. Either way, the mediator they see is one of you.

Questions mediators ask first
What’s the catch on “free forever”?
There isn’t one. Our revenue is the couple’s document package. Your listing costs us almost nothing to maintain, and a full directory is worth far more to us than listing fees. The listing agreement makes the no-fee term unamendable without your consent.
Do I have to learn a system?
No. You receive a PDF packet by secure transfer, you mediate the way you already do, and you return a term sheet by email. There is no portal to log into.
Do I have to take service cases to be listed?
No. You can be listed for directory contacts only. Couples who find you that way work with you exactly as they would from any other directory. You can opt into service cases later.
Who drafts the marital settlement agreement?
Nobody, in the sense you mean. Our staff complete the Florida Supreme Court approved MSA and parenting plan forms from the values on your signed term sheet, the way a nonlawyer document preparer completes any approved form from information supplied in writing. You are not asked to draft, and neither are we.
Is this a referral service?
No. Couples choose from a directory listed alphabetically by county. We don’t assign, rank for pay, or steer. No fee passes between JusticeXpress and any mediator.
Is confidentiality protected?
Packets move only by encrypted transfer, never as email attachments. Each spouse’s questionnaire is visible only to that spouse and, once they name you, to you. Nothing is placed in any AI tool. Mediation communications remain under Chapter 44.
I’m certified but I’m also a lawyer. Can I list?
Yes, as a mediator. Your listing describes your mediation practice only. It cannot offer representation or solicit clients for legal services.
